I did a mini project at University on LETS (Local Exchange Trading System) and I also read up on local currencies. Very interesting. I’m glad to see poeple are interested in this locally. Has there been any kind of action plan drafted?

Transition Gedling/Arnold will be showing the following films at 7pm at Arnold Methodist Church:
Tuesday 2nd June An Inconvenient Truth
Former US presidential candidate Al Gore presents the stark facts about global warming in this award-winning documentary. Clear, relevant and hard-hitting, this film could change the way you look at the world.
Tuesday 30th June The Age of Stupid
From the Director of ‘McLibel’ and the Producer of the Oscar-winning ‘One Day In September’. This drama-documentary-animation hybrid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching “archive” footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change while we had the chance?
Tuesday 28th July A farm for the future
Last year’s high fuel prices were a wake-up call for Devon farmer Rebecca Hosking. Realising that all food production in the UK is completely dependent on abundant cheap fossil fuel, particularly oil, she sets out to discover just how secure this oil supply is.
Please let people in the Arnold or Gedling Borough know about these events, which will all start at 7pm with refreshments. Entry is free and there will be plenty of opportunity to find out more about local initiatives/ask questions afterwards.

The first Transition Nottingham Market will be held on Saturday 12th December
everyone is invited to join in and help make something brilliant happen. The aim
is to have a monthly market showcasing the best of Nottingham’s homespun crafts
and produce, in addition to which there will be stalls hosting skill shares,
street entertainers etc.
It would be great to get a diverse mix of crafts and produce and also I don’t
want people getting burned out so the more people who get involved the better,
this means we can rotate the stalls on a monthly basis and hopefully no one ends
up doing too much. This is open to everyone, not just Transition members, so if
you have a friend that makes amazing cakes or jam or is a brilliant home brewer
or bread maker let them know the Transition Market would love to meet them!
If you are interested in having a stall sharing a skill or helping to organise the markets please get in
touch and we can talk about how you’d like to be involved.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Kind regards
Beccy
