Hello to anyone in St Anns interested in starting a Transition St Anns group. Lets get together and get the ball rolling. I’m sure there must be loads of skills and enthuiasm waiting to be unleashed! Leave a message here if you’d like to be involved.
Yes, let’s. The allotments (where I work on the Orchard) seem an ideal focus for it, with established sustainable projects with strong community links. Penney Poyzer is also developing a project whereby students research transition protential within St Anns. (Over to you, Penney, for a better explanantion).
‘Following a very inspiring Transition Training weekend a few people from St Anns and Sneinton have decided to get together to form a Transition St Anns and Sneinton Initiating Group. If you live in St Anns or Sneinton and are interested in being part of the Initiating group, we are having our first gathering this Thurs eve at 7.30pm. Contact Ruth on 07957 388594 if you’d like details of where to come. This is the beginning, who knows what wonderful things may grow out of it! ‘
The Great Spring Sowing Sunday March 22nd The Arboretum
At the festival Transition Sneinton and St Anns will be providing a garden match making service. This service matches and introduces committed, enthusiastic, growers with local garden owners who want to see their gardens being used more productively. We will be in the main Transition Nottingham Marquee, please come along and see if we can fix you up :0)
There will be a showing of ‘The Story of Stuff’ and an open discussion afterwards at the Iona school, Sneinton dale (behind bakersfield community centre) on Wednesday 1st April at 7.30.
A group of residents from Sneinton and St Ann’s are relaunching the Transition towns group for the area and we are having our first public launch event on the 1st April. Details in photo above.
So if you are interested in the Transition movement and the issues of peak oil and are interested in getting involved please come down. We will be showing a film and then having an open discussion about how we form some working groups.
Upto now we have a lot of interest in land use and food growing, but also need people interested in transport, energy and local economics.
Sneinton and St Ann’s Transition group present a film showing of ‘A Convienient Truth – Urban Solutions from Curitiba’
7.30pm Thursday 7th May
The Greenway centre, Trent Lane, Sneinton.
Cities should be a solution not a problem for human beings. The city of Curitiba has demonstrated for the past 40 years how to transform problems into cost-effective solutions that can be applied in most cities around the world.
A Convenient Truth: Urban Solutions from Curitiba, Brazil is an informative, inspirational documentary aimed at sharing ideas to provoke environment-friendly and cost-effective changes in cities worldwide. The documentary focuses on innovations in transportation, recycling, social benefits including affordable housing, seasonal parks, and the processes that transformed Curitiba into one of the most livable cities in the world.
The film includes interviews from world renowned Curitiba’s mayors Jaime Lerner and Cassio Tanigushi, as well as other brilliant minds who made Curitiba a world class model.
Followed by an open space discussion about how the Transition Towns initiatives can be applied here in inner city Nottingham. Please bring any questions, suggestions and ideas you may have.
Garderners’ Question Time recording – . Please could you pass this on to the NOGS list asap?

The first Transition Nottingham Market will be held on Saturday 12th December
everyone is invited to join in and help make something brilliant happen. The aim
is to have a monthly market showcasing the best of Nottingham’s homespun crafts
and produce, in addition to which there will be stalls hosting skill shares,
street entertainers etc.
It would be great to get a diverse mix of crafts and produce and also I don’t
want people getting burned out so the more people who get involved the better,
this means we can rotate the stalls on a monthly basis and hopefully no one ends
up doing too much. This is open to everyone, not just Transition members, so if
you have a friend that makes amazing cakes or jam or is a brilliant home brewer
or bread maker let them know the Transition Market would love to meet them!
If you are interested in having a stall sharing a skill or helping to organise the markets please get in
touch and we can talk about how you’d like to be involved.
